This guide covers a secure upload portal — a small, focused system that lets an organization collect a single file from someone outside the organization through a private, one-time link, and have that file land safely in the organization’s own cloud storage.

The live example of this portal is a General Movements Assessment Parent Upload Portal, built with the Developmental Disabilities Association (DDA) to collect GMA videos from parents. The Using the portal (DDA) section below is written for that team.

What a portal like this does (30 seconds)

  1. A staff member creates a temporary, one-time link for a specific person.
  2. They send that link however they already communicate.
  3. The recipient uploads one file plus any details you ask for (for the DDA portal, the recording date).
  4. The file is saved straight into your own cloud storage (the DDA portal uses the clinic’s OneDrive).
  5. Staff get an email with a direct link to the file.

That’s it — no accounts for the person uploading, and your files never leave your control.
